Job Description

Summary:  The District Operations Auditor is responsible to complete Operational Audits to obtain important business intelligence through scheduled visits to stores to help our Vendors and RDS succeed with merchandising excellence and maximizing sales and improving efficiencies.  Reports to Regional Operations Audit Manager

  • District Auditors will utilize a leased vehicle and be road warriors.
  • Will be required to travel via air at least one time monthly. Due to COVID-19, air travel may be suspended but will resume as part of an essential job function.
  • Will spend approximately 3-4 nights in hotels, monthly.
  • Region will consist of an average of 500 stores.

Essential Functions: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Excellent communication skills are essential to building key relationships within the district.
  • Build partnerships with store management by meeting regularly during each audit visit, to discuss sales opportunities and determine if RDS is meeting their service expectations.
  • Promote the Readerlink Brand.
  • Conduct operational audits, evaluating RDS procedures and processes to streamline and improve efficiencies.
  • Provide RDS with valuable business intelligence obtained from store personnel and vendors.
  • Analyze sales and schedule store visits in poor-performing markets to determine issues and help increase sales.
  • Facilitate vendor training sessions in markets as directed by Regional Operations Audit Manager.
  • Create Training Documents and Videos to be utilized as teaching tools.
  • Follow-up on store issues to ensure Vendors address per our standard operation procedures, and issues are not repeated.
  • Schedule vendor meetings in markets to assist them achieve overall merchandising excellence and maximize sales.
  • Promote a team environment.
  • Monitor and visit new store and remodels, meet with store planners to create a smooth transition.
  • Provide weekly market recaps.
  • Submit expenses weekly.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • 3-5 years of Field Merchandising experience preferred
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Skills to accurately report information by due dates/deadlines
  • Knowledge of computer software including Excel and Word required
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds
  • Willingness to travel as needed up to 50% within a given territory.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with Excel
