Job Description

Summary:  Drive sales to achieve defined sales and profitability budgets. Manage specific job functions and responsibilities associated with account activity that include customer relationship, attending and coordinating customer sales meetings, monitoring distributions and replenishment, managing promotions and maintaining team open task list.    

 

The primary responsibility of this job is drive sales by coordinating the various internal departments including Sales, Operations, Shoppers Marketing, Procurement, and Marketing to insure flawless execution and timely communication.

 

Essential Functions:  To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Process all initial customers’ orders and re-orders on a weekly basis. Inspect for discrepancies, unusual patterns, errors or missing locations
  • Analyze problems on customer accounts including, but not limited to mis-shipments, discrepancies in accounting or advertising, order errors, requests, product availability, etc. Recommend to management and/or implement solutions
  • Collect data for, and examine weekly check sheets for errors and appropriateness, then prepare final presentation sheet of planned titles for customers
  • Collect data for, prepare, and lead product presentations
  • Add and maintain weekly new items to inventory in the computer system. Maintain inactive and deletes weekly in the system. Notify customer of inventory levels after orders to monitor potential publisher reorders
  • Collect data on out-of-stock inventory via out-of-stock report; verify actual stock levels and anticipated shipments with distribution center and purchasing personnel to attempt to fill orders
  • Monitor order distributions for compliance to budgeted freight goals
  • Run sales and inventory reports as needed from internal and customer systems
  • Review pricing to insure both cost and consumer retail accuracy
  • Set up new-club locations
  • Distribute new store information and monitor progress through grand opening
  • Be able to travel to customer meetings
  • Prepare from information on computer system, from customers and/or managers, reports which may include:
    • Order Summary Report                          Deletes & Selldowns
    • Active Title List                                       Controlled Titles
    • Planners                                                 Out-of-Stock Report                             
    • Sales & Returns Report                         Weekly EDI Sales Report                                              
    • Comparison Shop Reports                    Weekly Top Titles

 

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Other duties may be assigned, directed or requested

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize projects/requests
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – in person, phone, email, presentations, etc.
  • Fast learner, team player, and aggressive problem solver
  • Strong to advanced level of skills with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Desire to advance and grow within the company

 

Language Skills:

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

 

Mathematical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of retail math skills

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Employee must be able to use common sense to solve problems and improve existing processes
